My final Music Video

I feel that my filming went quite well, however if I was to complete it again I would make sure I was better prepared in organising my locations and the people performing for me. I would have also made sure the lighting was correct so I did not have to edit it, when actually making the video.

Digi Pack

These are my final design for the outside and inside cover of my digi pack along with the CD design.

I have chosen to put information of the bands up and coming tour on the back of the Digi pack, as I have thought it is a good way of advertising their tour.

I felt that the two images either side appeared plain so I place a few quotes of the lyrics over the top.

Coursework Evaluation question 1

1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

This shot helps to tell the reader that the band is that of a performance one, which I feel most bands of this type and style have done and will always do.

Where I have created multiple clones of the one shot and altered the colouring, it helps to alter what the scene actually is. However the shot conforms to the style of genre, as most artists do not only have one scene happening throughout the video

With this shot I added an effect where I can create multiple clones. I also rotated the footage so that it created that drunken, beer goggles effect. This was so that it conformed to the style of the song and genre

This shot challenges’ the style, as fireworks are not usually used within this genre. However I felt it suited the song and the theme that the title gives, that of a ‘Saturday Night’

The style of this genre, is to have the band performing, therefore this shot conforms. However, it is unusual for the lead singer to be almost staring down the camera. In all I find that this shot conforms, more that challenges this style and genre.

This shot challenges the usual style, as you would not usually find all the band members in separate shots, combined into one scene. However I do feel that it is effective, as the audience still is allowed to view who is doing what, rather than trying to scan a shot where they are all, almost ‘crammed’ together within it.

2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Transcript:

-with the performance scenes, I need to get the lighting just right so that the audience can see the performers but also so it looks like an actual performance. I have used this technique in my ancillary products so that the theme of a performance can be shown throughout.

-the part scenes I have used of special effects where to enhance that party feel and to add colour because while shooting I hadn’t use the appropriate lighting.

- I keep to my shot schedule most of the time but like the fireworks shown throughout these where extra because I thought I could use fireworks within it.

-I feel that If I had of planned a lot better my shots would have been a lot more effective and also the not only the band but me as well would have know where to be and what to do. What made the performance shot take longer was that the singer did not know the lyrics so we had to allow him to listened to them beforehand and then shoot the scene.

-Here I have used special effects to create the party feel and so that all the band are in it and so that they were up to the camera so that they are easier to view.

-I feel that I cut the shots quite closely together to keep with the music, however I feel that the shots could have been a lot more varied so that they are not all either zoom in, zoom out or just looking at the actor.

-as well as filming I took a few stills for my digi pack and magazine advert. I did however use a few stills from my music video so I could interpret that party feel and performance feel within the ancillary products which helped join them together and create the same theme throughout.
